What is the Church

Many people today understand the church as a building, However this is not the biblical meaning of the church.
The word church is derived from a Greek word ‘ekklesia’ which is defined as “AN ASSEMBLY” or “CALLED OUT ONES” this therefore means that the church refers to a group of people or believers.
Romans 16:5 “Greet the church that is in their house.” Paul refers to the church in their house not as a church building but as a body of believers.
The church is a body of Christ as is testified in the book of Ephesians 1:22-23 “And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be the head over everything for the church, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”

The universal church consists of all those who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ for we were all baptised by one spirit into one body 1st Corinthians 12:13

Romans 12:5 “so we, who are many are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”

Ephesians 4:12 “For the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.”
we as Christians are the universal Church.
