Media committee is headed by Monica Matiri of Ipsos Synovate
One of the outcomes of the watershed conference in March 2011 was the formation of a media committee. Those present had the considered opinion that our activities and goals needed to be owned by the wider Christian public if we were to become salt and light to our society.
Many a time, the Christian point of view gets lost in the cluttered media noise and it’s important that we are able to get our point across. Again, many times the Christian viewpoint is presented with bias and is makes the Christians to appear as anti –reform and out of sync with the general public.
After careful consideration, we recognise that as Christian professionals, we need to know how to handle the media so as to work in harmony with the existing media reality in Kenya. One has only a few seconds or minutes at most to communicate concrete substance before the cameras and the scribes of the media. We need to be conversant with making the most of these opportunities as commanded in Eph. 5:16 – make good use of every opportunity you have, because these are evil days.
